She's probably fixed though so the mega-chi dna is forever lost.DubVhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14367764785422714196noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7524655808844578153.post-22641371558101978302011-03-14T21:33:06.946-07:002011-03-14T21:33:06.946-07:00I'll try again to post a comment. There was a big hoarder/breeder bust last summer in my town. The guy had 30+ Chihuahuas and Chihuahua mixes. The dogs were all running loose but locked in his basement which had every surface covered in feces and urine, siblings were allowed to breed and they clearly hardly any were purebred. But he would load the puppies into his truck and drive to shopping mall parking lots and sell them for $50 telling people they were purebred but just didn't have papers. They were sickly, inbred and most not even 50% Chihuahua.

I'm glad you saved your dog from a bad situation. People who do this sort of thing just do it for the quick cash and don't care about the animals. Our city has a law against selling puppies/kittens on public property, but as long as there is a market for it, people will continue to buy puppies like this.Marienoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7524655808844578153.post-13198254118801321062011-03-07T10:26:23.812-08:002011-03-07T10:26:23.812-08:00@Bagheera -
You're right about the dna tests,...@Bagheera -

You're right about the dna tests, I got a cheap mail-in cheek swab test from biopet vet lab, which had her in order of genetic share as 1. shetland sheepdog, 2. keeshond, 3. greyhound, 4. min pin.

I was hoping that something like the more expensive wisdom pro panel blood test could provide a more accurate read, but then again, it's entirely possible that she's "bred out" i.e. so many contributing breeds that they can no longer be distinguished.Jakehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00482549578598366599noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7524655808844578153.post-18401061506707020712011-03-07T00:54:47.599-08:002011-03-07T00:54:47.599-08:00What a nice story.
