Between Bare Trees

This video has captured something wonderful. It's somehow both joyful and somber. All pet lovers can relate.

I'm gonna bring a smile to your face
Ten thousand ways
Yes and I will embrace
New seasons
And if tomorrow the sky is gray
Well that's okay
Even the flowers fade
For good reason
This planet turns so fast
Everything burns
Ashes to ash
But for now you are mine
And I feel so alive

Rivers of love and peace
Flowing over you and me
Slivers of silver-blue between bare trees

That old kitty is a source of stress
I must confess
I'm gonna cry nonetheless
Yes I will
If the veterinarian says
It's for the best
I'll find her a place to rest
On the hill
This planet turns so fast
Everything burns
Ashes to ash
But for now you are mine
And I feel so alive

Rivers of love and peace
Flowing over you and me
Slivers of silver-blue between bare trees
Rivers of light and truth
Flowing over me and you
Slivers of silver-blue between bare trees...

  1. That video does speak to me. My girl (Lab Retriever) just turned 4 years old this month, and although she's just 2 years out of puppyhood, I know we don't have forever to spend together. Every year that goes by, I shake the thought out of my head of her getting older...I can't bear the thought of ever losing her. I think when her times comes, she will take my spirit with her, and I will be shocked if I make it past that day.

  2. I know what you mean, Jewel. When the first dog I ever loved passed away when she was only 4 years old, I was devastated, to the point that the rest of my life loomed before me like a barren desert. After her death, I got a new puppy, the first dog ever who was mine specifically. She will turn 4 this year and she is my best buddy. It seems like just yesterday we brought that tiny scared puppy home, but 4 years is a significant portion of a dog's life. I don't look forward to her passing. I only hope I can keep her safe and give her a good life until then.

  3. Beautiful lyrics and melody. When my daughter's horse had to be put down after being kicked by another horse and his leg broken, he had to be relieved of his suffering but it was so hard. It's always sad, sometimes devastating to lose a pet...they are part of your family.
